The Historical District at Southern Miss has served as a gathering place for students, alumni and fans for over 100 years. Home to the All American Rose Garden, black eyed susans and tailgaters.
“We install & service hangovers” – The End Zone. The End Zone is a Southern Miss shrine where it just so happens you can also run up a bar tab. Right next door is Po Boy Express. understated college bars. Every inch of this Hattiesburg establishment in Midtown is covered with mementos, photos and artifacts of Southern Miss history. Also along Hardy and throughout South Mississippi is Ward’s – the “Big One” with a frosted mug of homemade rootbeer is a must try!

The Thirsty Hippo has perhaps the coolest entrance to any bar in Hattiesburg but it has been recently reported The Hippo is moving or even closing, may open two new locations, remaining in Historic Downtown or not, stay tuned… Across the street from Main Street Books, Hattiesburg’s only independent bookstore. Also, be sure to go right around the corner on Bushman Street by the historic train depot and try the Depot Coffee House and Bistro. They serve a Shipley’s Do-Nuts Bread Pudding that is a must try!

Created by Southern Miss alums Charles Arinder and Eric Webb. It is a local hot spot for fresh, modern Mexican. Also be sure to try their homemade Margaritas.
Once an old railroad track, now a 41 mile linear park running from Hattiesburg to Prentiss. Long Leaf Trace will soon extend from Southern Miss to Historic Downtown.
Shipley is the place for do-nuts with the iconic sign and a drive through. If heading to Historic Downtown go to the Depot Coffee House and Bistro on 127 Bushman Street and try their Shipley Do-nuts bread pudding!

Donanelle’s is a classic South Mississippi roadhouse serving up steaks, loinback ribs and yellow fin tuna grilled over local pecan wood and hickory charcoal. Named after owners, Don and Elle. If you are heading south on Highway 49 from Hattiesburg also be sure to check out Rose’s Bar-B-Q.
